22 November - 20 December 2025
Overview

We are thrilled to present the first solo show of São Paulo based artist Ricardo Cherbeluka in our gallery.

Cherbeluka's Artistic Process Cherbeluka’s creative process is deeply rooted in his passion for art and in the profound influence of the Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn. Since the beginning of his artistic journey, the painter has drawn inspiration from dramatic chiaroscuro, intense contrasts of light and shadow not merely as technical elements, but as a means to reveal the invisible: what is felt rather than what is seen.
His true obsession lies with light: its behavior, its drama, and its ability to uncover the soul. What drives Cherbeluka’s painting is the pursuit of something beyond form, something that transcends the image and touches the viewer's inner world. It all begins with a careful observation of contemporary life. Photographs, fragments of moments, field studies, and daily observations serve as starting points. The human figure is at the heart of his work in its solitude, joy, sorrow, dreams, and inner turmoil. It is in this deep connection with human emotion that the artist finds the raw material for his art.
The painting phase is ritualistic and meticulous. Every choice is intentional: from oil paints to historic pigments such as lead white and lapis lazuli, blended with modern materials and contemporary techniques. His works are built through multiple layers, with glazes, color shifts, and layers of varnish, in a process that may span weeks or even months. More than portraits, his paintings are fragments of life small mirrors of unique moments where time seems suspended. For Cherbeluka, painting is the act of feeling deeply what lies before him and translating the unspeakable into pictorial matter
