ZEIST A NEW EXPERIENCE

Sam Drukker often works in series, such as the series of paintings Boxers, Carriers, Ophelia, and the series of drawings Drawn Love. Almost every work by Sam Drukker shows the human figure, in which he wanted to encounter character, gesture, emotion and interaction.

FIRST THE DRAWING, THEN THE PAINTING

The source of all his work is the drawing. Sam Drukker first made the drawing and then the painting from the very beginning of his artistry. While studying at the Groningen Minerva Academy, he made drawn diaries, mostly by heart. Later he draws to reality. Woman standing, washed ink, 50 x 33 cm, 2007. He himself says about this: "Studying reality is so much more interesting and surprising that the human brain can think up". Since then, the drawing has been a quest for the painting. Getting to know the subject, but also weighing up the most meaningful moment. To increase the tension and concentration, he opts for ink.
