Between July 3rd and 7th 2023 the Spanish artist Bea Sarrias performed within the Eurojust building in The Hague. The artist did not solely represent the headquarters' facade but also highlighted an important will to work collaboratively within the European Union.
The project, was an initiative of the Spanish National Desk at Eurojust, with the support of the Ministry of Justice and the Embassy of Spain in The Hague. The event was created to inaugurate the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, begun earlier this month.
Alongside the five days performance and the large tryptic that she created, more than fifty paintings previously made by the artist populate the building of the Eurojsut. The works focus on numerous Spanish architects which deeply inspired Sarrias' imagination. Her composition often feels suspended, we don't see anyone within the picture but we always sense a human component in numerous details of the images.
Portraying the European Lights is certainly an arduous mission, but one that we can enjoy through Sarrias' paintings until December 2023 at the Eurojust in The Hague.
